Virtual Discussion with Tyson Gentry

July 26 @ 4:30 pm

You are invited to join the Ohio State Alumni Club of Atlanta for a virtual event featuring former Ohio State football player, Tyson Gentry, on Tuesday, July 26 at 4:30 p.m. Pacific.

Tyson Gentry was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio. He graduated from Perkins High School in 2004, where he was a three sport athlete. He was recruited by The Ohio State University as a preferred walk-on for the football team, following in his father’s footsteps, who played for Ohio State in the mid-1970s.

In the spring of 2006, during his sophomore year, Tyson’s life changed in a split second. During a routine play, he caught a pass going over the middle of the field and landed awkwardly as he was tackled, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. After two surgeries and many months of therapy, Tyson regained the use of his biceps and was determined to not let his disability prevent him from living a fulfilling life.

Tyson would go on to graduate with his degree in speech and hearing science in 2009. He also earned his Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Buffalo in 2014. Tyson met his wife, Megan, while they were both students at Ohio State, and they married in 2013. They have two sons, Adam (6) and Ryan (4).

In 2014, Tyson and Megan started New Perspective Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on assisting individuals and families after suffering a spinal cord injury. To date, the foundation has granted about $300,000 to over 150 families. In addition to running the foundation, Tyson travels around doing motivational speaking, as well as working with athletes, students, business professionals, and others on mental fortitude.

RSVP details are forthcoming. If you have any questions, please contact atlantaclub@osu.edu.
