2017 Leadership Symposium Awards

Every year,  alumni clubs and societies from across the nation gather in Columbus for the annual Leadership Symposium hosted by The Ohio State University Alumni Association (OSUAA). In 2017, the Ohio State Alumni Club of San Diego was distinguished as an Outstanding Alumni Club! In total, ten additional awards were dispersed to clubs and OSUSD received two of them—Program of the Year and Pay It Forward Award for Volunteerism. Thank you to all of our volunteers and leaders who make the San Diego Buckeye community so great!

Program of the Year

Our Mission Beach Clean-Up was recognized as Program of the Year. This award is for programs that advance the mission and values of OSUAA, support the goals of the club, broaden awareness for Ohio State, and strengthen the relationship between OSUAA and OSUSD. We were one of three clubs across the nation to receive this award.

Pay It Forward Award for Volunteerism

OSUSD’s current President, Debbi Levis, received the Pay It Forward Award for Volunteerism for her leadership of the club. This award is for individuals who, through their service and achievements as a club leader, goes above and beyond to support and advance the goals and objectives outlined by OSUAA. She was one of five individuals across the nation to be recognized for their dedication to their local alumni clubs.

Outstanding Alumni Club

San Diego was recognized as a Scarlet Level Outstanding Alumni Club for the first time in many years. This is the highest status awarded to clubs and entailed high-level programming and events, game day gatherings, a scholarship program, board, membership, and fundraising requirements. The OSUSD board set achieving this status as a goal in 2016 and met it with a lot of hard work.
